Spring Repair
A snapped torsion or extension spring, a door that weighs a ton by hand, or a gap in the coil above the opening.
More on Spring Repair →The 91321 ZIP area around Newhall holds the oldest housing of any Santa Clarita ZIP: 53.8% of its homes were built before 1980, the median dates to 1978, and the 1960s led at 23.0%.

A garage from the 1960s or 1970s can hold parts from several decades at once: a replacement door, an opener added later, springs swapped more than once. So a visit to an older house starts with finding out what is actually there. Federal rules require openers made from January 1, 1993 on to check a second safety device such as photo eyes on every close, and an older unit may have none. Extension springs that run beside the tracks need a containment cable through each one, or a snapped spring can fly across the garage. We check both, balance the door, test the reversal on a 2-inch block, and tell you which parts are worth keeping.

We serve all of it, City streets and County land alike. Only about half of the 91321 ZIP area is City land, so these four names cover the ground.
The City's arts and entertainment district, around Main Street and Railroad Avenue, where some of the earliest silent movies were shot.
Its own City landscape zone, off Newhall Avenue and Via Princessa.
Where Francisco Lopez found gold on wild onion roots in March 1842, six years before Sutter's Mill. Part City land, part County.
A small unincorporated area keeps the community name on the County's map, so not every address here is inside the City.
A USGS report names Newhall, with Tarzana, as a site of unusually high ground acceleration in the Northridge earthquake. Shaking in the Newhall Pass brought down two connector structures at the I-5 and Route 14 interchange, one of only seven overpasses that fell in the quake. FEMA's homebuilder guide lists excessive drift at garage fronts as a recurring house problem in quakes; bracing that front is framing work. When a door rubs or binds in its opening, we check the tracks and cables and tell you plainly whether the trouble is the door or the frame.
